Why deep core aeration?
Deep core aeration is one of the most beneficial things you can do for your lawn. Green Sprout has the best aeration equipment available to get this job done right. Our state of the art aeration machine removes cores up to 3 inches out of the soil leaving pores in the ground. Plus our machines pull 12 plugs per sq. ft. rather than 6 like the smaller machines do. This allows the compacted soil to expand and soak up water and nutrients. Smaller machines do not have the downward force that is required to accomplish this much penetration. Most lawn care companies won’t invest in this heavier more expensive equipment. We do not settle for second best!
Deep core aeration pulls “plugs” out of the lawn which is important to allow water, oxygen and nutrients to reach the roots of the grass. The “plugs” should remain on your lawn and not be raked up. They will decompose over the next few weeks. This is important for your lawn as they will increase microbial soil activity helping to reduce thatch and soil compaction (especially for high impact areas). This also reduces water runoff.

WHAT IS OVER SEEDING?
Overseeding is the process of broadcasting seed on existing turf. Overseeding immediately after core aeration dramatically increases the germination rate of the seed. So instead of broadcasting seed on an established turf and hoping the seed will germinate, carrying out this process after aeration will cause the seed to fall into holes in the turf where it will have adequate seed-soil contact for germination.
